Mechanical keyboard switches that are backlight SMD-LED compatible. Compatible with the GMMK keyboard. Comes in various flavors.
The heart of any mechanical keyboard. These mechanical switches are manufactured and produced by Gateron, and are fully compatible with our GMMK & GMMK PRO. Gateron is the first mechanical switch that brings noticeable improvements over the original Cherry switches that have dominated the market.
The primary difference between Gateron and Cherry switches is, the Gateron switches are much smoother, and bumps are more tactile. It brings a whole new typing and gaming experience, and is growing quickly in popularity within the Mechanical Keyboard scene. The smoothness of each Gateron switch stroke can be best described as: sliding a hot knife through butter.
These Gateron switches are fully SMD-LED compatible, (+) stem, and have a rated lifetime of 50 million cycles. The switches were designed to be used with our GMMK & GMMK PRO, but can be used with other keyboards and DIY projects just fine.
Compatible with the GMMK & GMMK PRO
Switch Color | Type | Peak Force | Noise Level when Typing | What does it feel like? |
Clear | Linear | 35g | Silent | The lightest switch available, ideal for people who prefer a softer touch when using their keyboard. Minimizes finger fatigue. |
Red | Linear | 45g | Silent | The ideal, and most common switch preferred by gamers. Smooth as butter, allowing rapid execution of the keys. |
Black | Linear | 50g | Silent | If the Red switch is too light, then this is your best bet. Still smooth, but requires more force to press down. |
Blue | Clicky | 55g | High | For those who love the click and clack of a keyboard. Generates a loud click and tactile bump when a key is pressed. Popular for typing and programmers. Note: clacking will annoy your peers. |
Green | Clicky | 80g | High | The heaviest switch available. For those who love the click and clack of a keyboard. Generates a loud click and tactile bump when a key is pressed. Popular for typing and programmers. |
Browns | Tactile | 45g | Medium | A hybrid between a Linear and Clicky switches. Does not generate a click when pressed, but the tactile bump is still present. Ideal for those who want a tactile bump and work around peers. |
There are three main categories of mechanical keyboard switches: linear, clicky, and tactile.
Typically, the decision comes down to personal preference, and there has been no proven difference on a particular switch providing advantage over another.
